ABOUT THE TEAM

The Piranhas Swim Team is a recreational swim team located at the Shalom Austin Dell Jewish Community Center. The Piranhas Swim Team strives to provide a fun and family-like atmosphere as they expose kids, ages 5-18, to the great sport of swimming. They provide opportunities for kids to swim throughout the year in a positive environment, where they can make new friends and excel at their swimming skills. Our coaching philosophy is for our swimmers to have a great time while we provide them a good balance of stroke work, mechanics through progressions, conditioning, and enjoy the lifelong sport of swimming.

Summer League

We are a part of the North Austin Aquatics League (NAAL) that includes the Avery Ranch Redfish, Balcones Woods Blue Wave, Forest Area Swim Team F.A.S.T. Frogs, Great Hills Gators, Westover Wild Orcas, and Twin Creeks Twisters, and Falcon Point Flyers. Our season is 9 weeks long with 6 swim meets and one Championship meet (CHAMPS). Anyone between the ages of 5 - 18 by May 1st is eligible to try-out for the swim team. For swimmers to compete in meets, all parents are asked to select their volunteer position(s) for each meet. The Piranhas cannot happen without support from all the parents. It takes a village of volunteers to run and host multiple Swim Meets (Home and Away), prepare social activities, and throwing a banquet. If you do not volunteer, then you cannot be a part of the Piranhas Swim Team.
