ABOUT THE TEAM
The Piranhas Swim Team is a recreational swim team located at the Shalom Austin Jewish Community Center. The Piranhas Swim Team strives to provide a fun and family-like atmosphere as they expose kids, ages 5-18, to the great sport of swimming. They provide opportunities for kids to swim throughout the year in a positive environment, where they can make new friends and excel at their swimming skills. Our coaching philosophy is for our swimmers to have a great time while we provide them a good balance of stroke work, mechanics through progressions, conditioning, and enjoy the lifelong sport of swimming.
The team is open to children between ages 5-10 who can independently swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke without stopping. Swimmers ages 5-10 years old should be familiar with dolphin kicks and breaststroke kicks. Swimmers ages 11-18 should be familiar with all four competitive strokes.
A tryout needs to be conducted before the swimmer is registered.

Frogs), Great Hills Gators, Westover Wild Orcas, and Twin Creeks Twisters. Our season is 9 weeks long this year with 6 swim meets and one CHAMPS meet. Anyone between the ages of 5 - 18 by May 1st is eligible to try-out for the swim team.To join the team, all parents are asked to select their volunteer position(s) and commit to them. The Piranhas cannot happen without support from all the parents. It takes a village of volunteers to run and host multiple Swim Meets (Home and Away), prepare social activities, and throwing a banquet. If you do not volunteer, then you cannot be a part of the Piranhas Swim Team.
